Set Up Your Shipping Rates on Furzo

This guide explains how to set up your shipping rates on Furzo, specifically using the “Table Rate Shipping” method, which is ideal for setting costs based on weight and destination. Accurate configuration is essential if you sell physical goods.

1. Go to Shipping Settings

2. Understanding and Creating Shipping Zones

Before setting rates, you must define where you ship. That's what the shipping zones are for.

  • Qu’est-ce qu’une zone ? A shipping zone groups together geographic regions (countries, continents, departments, etc.) to which you want to apply specific shipping rates and methods.
  • Created by:
    • Click on “Add a shipping zone”.
    • Give a Field name clear (e.g., “Mainland France,” “European Union,” “International Zone 1”).
    • Select the Regions in the area (countries, etc.) that make up this area.
    • Save the area.
  • Tip: Create as many zones as needed to cover all the destinations to which you want to ship, with potentially different rates (e.g., one zone for France, one for nearby European countries, and one for the rest of the world).

3. Add a Shipping Method: Flat Rates by Table

Once you’ve created your zone (for example, “Mainland France”), you need to add the delivery methods available for that zone. We’ll focus on weight-based rates using a table.

  • In the desired area, click “Add a shipping method”.
  • In the drop-down list that appears, select “Tarifs Fixes par Tableau” (or “Table Rate”).
  • Click again on “Add a shipping method” to confirm. The method now appears in your area.

4. Configure the “Fixed Rates by Table” Method

This is where you'll set your rates based on weight.

  • Click on “Edit” under the name of the “Fixed Rates by Table” method you just added.
  • General Method Settings:
    • Method title: This is the name your customers will see when selecting a delivery option. Be clear (e.g., “Standard Delivery,” “Lightweight,” “Bulky,” “Colissimo with Tracking,” “Mondial Relay – Pickup Point”).
    • Tax status: Generally select “Taxable” if your shipping costs are subject to VAT in France. Select “None” if this is not the case.
    • Cost: Leave this field blank or set it to 0, as the costs will be specified in the table below.
  • Section “Tarifs du tableau” (Table Rates) : This is the core of the configuration. You will add a line for each weight range.
    • Click on “Add a rate” to create a new line.
    • Configure each row for a weight range:
      • Shipping class: Leave it set to “All classes” if you don’t use specific shipping classes for your products.
      • Condition: Select “Weight” in the drop-down list. This indicates that the shipping rate depends on the order's weight.
      • Min Weight / Max Weight: Define the weight range for this line (expressed in the weight unit configured in WooCommerce, usually kg).
        • Example 1: Pour 0 à 2 kg -> Min Poids = 0, Max Poids = 2
        • Example 2: Pour 2.01 kg à 5 kg -> Min Poids = 2.01, Max Poids = 5
        • Example 3: Pour plus de 10 kg -> Min Poids = 10.01, Max Poids = laissez vide (signifie “et plus”).
        • Important: Make sure your ranges do not overlap (use 2.01 if the previous range ends at 2).
      • Cost per line: It is the fixed price que vous facturez pour l’expédition d’une commande dont le poids total se situe dans la plage Min/Max définie sur cette ligne. Mettez ici le tarif correspondant (ex: 6.50).
      • Cost per kg: (Optional; often not used for tiered pricing) Allows you to add a cost per kg en plus du coût par ligne. Laissez généralement à 0.
      • Tag: (Optional) You can add a label that will be displayed to the customer if this rate is selected (e.g., “Colissimo Shipping (0–2 kg)”).
      • Pause: (Optionnel mais utile) Cochez cette case (Oui). Si le poids de la commande correspond à cette ligne, le système s’arrêtera de chercher d’autres tarifs dans ce tableau et appliquera celui-ci. Cela évite les cumuls si vous avez des conditions complexes.
  • Add as many lines as you like enough to cover all your weight ranges for this area and this method.
  • Order of lines: You can drag and drop the lines to reorder them. If you don’t use “Break,” the order may matter. With “Break,” the order matters less as long as the weight ranges are clearly defined.

5. Sample Price List for Europe

The table below is a example an estimate of what rates might look like for different European countries, based on weight brackets. These rates are for reference only and should be replaced with the actual rates of the carriers you use.

6. Practical Example of a Shipping Rate Configuration: Mainland France (0–2 kg)

To implement the first line of the example above (France, 0–2 kg, €6.50) in your configuration table, you would add a line like this:

Shipping classConditionMin WeightMax WeightCost per lineCost per kilogramLabelPause
Any classWeight026.500Livraison Standard (0-2kg)Yes (checked)

Don’t forget to add additional rows for higher weight ranges (2.01–5 kg, 5.01–10 kg, etc.) with their respective costs, following this format.

7. Repeat for the other zones and methods

  • Set up “Flat Rates by Table” for your other shipping zones (e.g., European Union) by adjusting the costs.
  • You can add additional shipping methods within the same section if you offer multiple carriers or service levels (e.g., Standard, Express, Pickup Point), each with its own pricing structure.

8. Save and Test

  • Don't forget to click on “Save changes” at the bottom of the method configuration page, then click “Save changes” on the main shipping zones page.
  • Give it a try! The best way to check your setup is to simulate an order on your store using products of different weights and delivery addresses in your various zones.

9. Practical Tips

  • 📊 Update regularly: Carrier rates are subject to change. Check them periodically.
  • ⚙️ Use the carriers' calculators: La Poste, Mondial Relay, Colissimo, and others offer online tools to estimate costs, which will help you set your rates.
  • ⚖️ Weigh your packaged products: Don’t forget to factor in the weight of the packaging when determining your weight ranges.
  • 🚚 Proposez plusieurs options : If possible, offer a choice between standard shipping and expedited shipping.

By carefully setting up your shipping tables, you’ll provide clarity for your customers and ensure that your shipping costs are properly covered.
